popup-records was founded in 2001 by Jan Köpke as a music label and promotion company. Over time, and after some earth-shattering changes in the music industry, popup-records’ team of eight music enthusiasts emerged as one of the most requested leading PR agencies and label service providers in the independent music market in Germany, offering and implementing tailor-made PR and marketing campaigns in all media areas for partners such as Nettwerk, The Orchard, One Little Independent, Cooking Vinyl, BMG, and Virgin.
popup’s artist roster has always been primarily international, with local “perennial favorites” such as Bernd Begemann and Rhonda. Artists like Seed to Tree (Lux), Daniel Norgren (SE), Carnival Youth (LT), Jonas Alaska (Nor), and Wanda from Austria have made their first steps on the German market together with popup. They work with label partners and artists from New Zealand, Australia, USA, UK, Scandinavia, Canada, South Africa, Israel, and are still interested in expanding this great network.
They run their own event formats like the annual international “Record Store Day” and, as local highlights, the concert series “Pop Seasons” and “Sommer in Altona”, where Lola Marsh and The Angelcy have performed previously.
